The Dark Knight thoughts…

July 20th, 2008 · No Comments

So I ventured to a 10:30am showing of the Dark Knight today and I was blown away. This has to be THE best comic book movie beating out Iron Man on my list. The story was well done and flowed very well. The set design was equally awesome.

Heath Ledger shined in his role as The Joker. I mean, if he was not The Joker, the movie would have been an average flick. He really pulled off the sadistic, psychopathic killer from the comics. Although Tim Burton’s Batman had more style, Chris Nolan’s version is more true to the comics.

I felt that all the side characters like Luscious Fox and Alfred were under utilized. I also felt like there were 2 stories in this movie and near the end it got kinda weak.

One last thing, Christian Bale’s Batman voice was terrible in this movie. It sounded like he had a sore throat or something stuck in it.

All in all, it’s a movie you must see in theaters. Heath Ledger has the best performance in a movie EVAR!!!! He really owned that role.

E3 wrap up show

July 18th, 2008 · No Comments

C4 from GAMERadio, RubbaD and Jermo from Button Mashers and Ribo,  DDMNeo and yours truly from Handheld Heroes had a round table discussion on the 3 major conferences put on by Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo. It was an amazing time and although some of us fell asleep, it was a very good discussion. Mind you, the recording was started at 12am so it was LATE. I hope we, the gamer community, get together again and do more of these round tables.

Time for me to take the rest of the day and relax. Mandatory overtime at my job is killing me.

Happy Birthday to me!!!!

July 9th, 2008 · No Comments

So I should have been at work today but I decided to have some me time and call out sick. I did absolutely nothing…and it felt good. I did think about how I lost touch with my tech side and I need to get back into doing projects and just plain old tinkering. I am losing my touch when it comes to tech knowledge.

I need to be more active again in the social networking of the interwebs as well.

Windows Live Writer vs BloGTK

July 1st, 2008 · No Comments

I recently started using Windows Live Writer on my Windows partition and actually love using it to post to my blog with having to go to my blog and log in to post from the web. I am trying to find a Linux equivalent and there is not much out there right now.

I am testing out BloGTK in Ubuntu to write this post. Not sure on what the differences in options are between the two but we shall see when i post more using BloGTK.

Never underestimate the power of Linux! There is always a decent if not better alternative to a Windows or Mac version of software that you are using.

Random Thoughts 06-24-08

June 24th, 2008 · No Comments

Just watched A Beautiful Mind and it was a good movie. Didn’t think I would like it cause the story didn’t interest me. Also had a little more time with Call Of Duty 3. Now despite the bad collision detection with the bullets and the controls (no run button?) it’s not that bad. I would buy this game for $20. The multi-player is a little boring but people still play it so that has to say something about the game.

Going try out Dynebolic hopefully this week so I can test out live streaming of my podcast. That should be fun…not. Well back to Etrian Odyssey 2. I must beat this game so I can try others that are coming out for the DS next month. Too many good games coming out.

Wow! I have a blog?

June 22nd, 2008 · No Comments

I  totally forgot I had this blog. I have a good excuse though. I have started a podcast focusing on Handheld gaming devices. The show is called Handheld Heroes with of course me, Ribo and DDMNeo. We have a basic site for now so don’t hate. None of us are web design experts so there is only so much we can do.

The show is going really well and we even have a contest for the show. If you have audio skills, you can enter the contest of making an opening theme song/music for our show. The only condition is that it has to be under 45 seconds. A prize of either a DS flash cart of your choice or a DS/PSP game of your choice will be awarded to the winner. The contest ends on July 13th so get cracking folks.

RROD again…..

April 7th, 2008 · No Comments

My Xbox 360 RROD (Red Ring OF Death) on me this morning. This is the 2nd time it has done this on me. Good thing is that it’s still under warrenty so I will be waiting for 4-6 weeks for my Xbox to get repaired. Even with the problems with the RROD, I still see the 360 as the superior console. Still, Microsoft needs to fix this and stop these RROD’s from happening and just give us all the new Xbox’s that have the new chipsets that run cooler.

At least this gives me time to play with my NDS and catch up on some games I need to play.

Call Of Duty 4 New Maps!!!!!

April 7th, 2008 · No Comments

My love for this game is renewed with these new maps. The new maps are Chinatown, Broadcast, Killhouse, and Creek. All the maps will be playable starting Monday on all of the playlists for multi-player online. Creek is a sniper heaven. It’s Overgrown with more places to snipe from. Chinatown is a hellish map. Everything looks the same when running around. There are a lot of windows to get shot from too. Broadcast is similar to Backlot to me. You can either take the fight to the building or across the street to some other buildings to snipe people on the roof. Killhouse is Shipment but more fun. It is crazy to play with a bunch of your friends in free for all. I think the new Variety Map Pack is worth the $10 for sure.

Of course when the map pack came out, people brought XBL to its knees. If you didn’t download the map pack in the morning, you were sitting around trying 10 to 20 times to get the download to work. Microsoft should, in the future, should be more prepared when they know something as big as this comes out and have more servers to compensate the load of people trying to get the new DLC.
